The ideal candidate will possess experience with LO aircraft design and integration of those technologies. Must have demonstrated expertise in integrating LO solutions with advanced systems, an understanding of electromagnetic (EM) principles affecting radar cross-section (RCS) and practical design integration experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create design studies using CAD of LO design solutions using first principles and industry experience. Detail engineering of LO-integrated airframe parts and features (e.g., edges, inlets, exhausts, control surfaces, payload bays, and airframe interfaces).
- Refine LO designs in collaboration with survivability engineers to support signature budgets and design requirements.
- Support development of treatment integration schemes (e.g., RAM, RAS, seals, coatings, and other LO-critical features) within an IPT.
- Lead LO trade studies for AV configurations and airframe subsystems, generating a balanced design approach between aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and mission system teams.
- Produce airframe detailed designs for parts and assemblies using metallic and composite materials.
- Create and maintain Model Based drawings of installations, assemblies, and detail components that meet requirements.
- Collaborate with analysis, flight sciences, mechanical, manufacturing and stakeholders to produce designs from concept to production.
- Participate in reviews to present designs that meet requirements.
- Prepare reports and design to build packages for review and release.
Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Experience in the design of lightweight, high performance structural parts and assemblies utilizing metal and composite materials.
- Experience in the design and manufacturing of Low Observable components, including configurations, materials and treatments.
- Proficiency in NX - Teamcenter or CATIA.
- Proven ability and track record of executing projects in prototype or production air vehicle/airframe development.
