Make the world's most advanced SDA O&I/GMI even smarter by supporting the SDA team as a PWSA Enterprise Level Engineer. Responsibilities:
- As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.
- 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Domain Knowledge:
- Ground system design or scheduling knowledge
- Tracking mission design knowledge
- Satellite communications knowledge
- Ground to satellite communication knowledge
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architecture
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
- Systems Design and Integration :
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies
- Experience with systems design, integration, and validation
- Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design
- DevOps and Continuous Integration:
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
- Cloud and Infrastructure:
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Security and Compliance:
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices
- Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)
Preferred Technical Background:
- Systems Engineering:
- Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior
- Experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads
- Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis
- Experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE):
- Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
- Programming and Tools Skills:
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling
- Cloud Computing:
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
- DevOps and Automation :
- Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
