MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) Systems Engineer to join our team working in the Washington D.C. Navy Yard. This is a Hybrid position requiring at least 3 days on site and 2 days remote per week.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and assess risk for technical decisions for Nimitz and Ford Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and Aviation System Engineering Manager (SEM)
- Collaborate with SUPSHIP Newport News to address AIMD system issues.
- Provide written responses to requests for technical assistance or adjudication received via letter, Departure from Specification (DFS), and Nuclear Liaison Action Request (NLAR)
- Address technical issues with ship modernization efforts executed via Ship Change Documents (SCDs) and support development of new SCDs
- Collect and issue Aviation Systems Government Furnished Information (GFI) packages to Newport News Shipbuilding.
- Review technical data packages, engineering drawings, reports, logistics materials, and training deliverables; provide written technical recommendations.
- Evaluate procurement, ship, and systems specifications and submit written proposals for change.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school Diploma
- 10+ years of experience with aviation intermediate maintenance department (AIMD) aboard aircraft carriers or large deck amphibious ships
- Former active duty US Navy Aviation Limited Duty Officer (LDO), Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), or Chief Petty Officer (CPO).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline
- Experience working within NAVSEA 05
- Experience interfacing with non-technical leadership
- Previous work experience with or at a shipyard, Naval Air Warfare Center (NAWC), SUPSHIP, RMC, TYCOM, or similar organizations in support of construction, maintenance, modernization, or repair of shipboard airwing systems.
Clearance Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess an active or current Secret security clearance
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, and exchange accurate information effectively.
