Volt is immediately hiring for “Principal System Safety Engineer ENG04” in “Tucson, AZ”.
About the Role
Volt Solutions is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer to join our team supporting mission-critical programs. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and collaborate across integrated product teams to ensure safety requirements are met throughout the system lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
Perform system safety tasks and analyses, including management, analysis, evaluation, and verification.
Analyze engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings for fault tolerance and safety compliance.
Design and validate safety requirements and controls across integrated product teams.
Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
Collaborate with Program Management and government authorities from program startup through disposal.
Mentor junior engineers and interface with stakeholders including customers and subcontractors.
Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
This is 12 months with possible extension opportunity.
Clearance: Active Secret required prior to start.
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 5+ years of relevant experience (advanced degree may substitute for experience).
Background in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.
Active and transferrable U.S. Government Secret clearance prior to start date.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL-STD-882 / DO-178).
Familiarity with Agile Development environments and Human Factors Engineering (MIL-STD-1472).
Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and proposal development.
Knowledge of Engineering Change Proposals and System Safety Working Groups.
Pay Rate:- $65/hr.-$70/hr.
