As a GNC Engineering Manager - Level 1 located in Chandler, AZ, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
The Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) department is seeking a highly motivated and experienced GNC Manager to lead and contribute to groundbreaking projects in Launch Vehicles, Tactical Systems, and Missile Interceptors. This position blends technical leadership and hands-on engineering with responsibilities split into 50% management (indirect charging) and 50% technical contributions (direct charging). As the GNC Manager, you will oversee the execution of critical projects, guide the technical development of GNC systems, and mentor a dynamic team of engineers, all while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure program success. This role involves working across critical phases of flight, including powered ascent, coast, orbital insertion, interplanetary cruise, and staging events, as well as developing technology for a diverse range of systems such as aircraft, spacecraft, missiles, and launch vehicles. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,900.00 - $172,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

- Provide leadership and direction to the GNC team, including mentoring and performance management.
- Develop project plans, track performance metrics, and ensure timely completion of milestones within budget.
- Contribute directly to the development and validation of GNC algorithms and systems, including simulations, flight software, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Support mission planning, requirements development, and risk analysis for GNC functions.
- Oversee the design, development, and analysis of guidance laws, navigation filters, and control systems.
- Interface with stakeholders, including program leadership and GNC management, to communicate technical progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Develop advanced GNC systems, including Guidance and Autopilot Algorithms, Navigation Systems, Sensor and Tracking Systems, and Simulation of Vehicle Dynamics.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Seven (7) years of experience in Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems, with demonstrated technical depth in algorithms, software, and/or hardware development. Will consider Missile Guidance and Control experience
- Expertise using simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink) and GNC modeling techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ or Python.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's or PhD in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Proven experience managing technical teams, including schedule and resource planning.
- Knowledge of missile, launch vehicle, or tactical GNC systems.
- Experience with software validation, flight testing, or mission-critical system design.
