Qualified Systems Test Engineer will have experience with some of the following responsibilities:
This role is based on-site in Linthicum/Annapolis Junction, MD, and may be filled at either the Engineer Metrology or Principal Engineer Metrology level. Initial training and certification will take place in California for several months. Additionally, annual training and re-certification will be conducted at a Keysight facility in California.
This position can be filled at either the Systems Test Engineer or Principal Systems Test Engineer level.
Basic Qualifications for Systems Test Engineer:
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic test systems.
• Must be able to navigate within a testing area and physically lift-up to 35 pounds.
• Must have knowledge of electronic principles, the ability to troubleshoot and replace defective parts and understand the operation of basic test equipment.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Test Engineer:
• Bachelor's degree in technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with a master's degree, or 0 years of experience with a PhD. 4 additional years of technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic test systems.
• Must be able to navigate within a testing area and physically lift-up to 35 pounds.
• Must have knowledge of electronic principles, the ability to troubleshoot and replace defective parts and understand the operation of basic test equipment.
• Functional Test Experience, particularly those involving Keysight instrumentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with superconducting electronics test platforms.
• Experience with cryogenic test environments, including system operation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with microwave electronics.
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in cryogenics and test equipment (Power Supplies, signal generators, pulse generators, frequency counter, Low noise power sources, ENA Network Analyzers, PNA-L, PXA Signal Analyzer, and oscilloscopes etc).
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting, including adapting to changing priorities and requirements
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Experience on EMT Products, especially Keysight !3070 In-Circuit Test Systems and ICT Applications Software Knowledge or experience.
Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. - Ensure on-time repair and calibration of standard electronic test equipment and instrumentation such as power supplies, amplifiers, Low noise power sources, ENA Network Analyzers, PNA-L, PXA Signal Analyzer, and oscilloscopes working from schematics, wiring diagrams, instruction manuals and associated data on site.
- Manage and implement process improvements for operational efficiency.
- As a primary interface to the customer, work with cross functional teams to address difficult repair situations, helping to return customer systems to fully functional status in the shortest time possible.
- Determine and develop approaches to the varied assignments associated with this position.
- Determine source of equipment malfunctions, component failure and/or calibration requirements utilizing tooling such as oscilloscopes, analyzers and bridges. Replace defective components, wiring and circuity determining functional quality of such components under a variety of operating conditions. Perform modifications on standard equipment following manufacturers' directions or as indicated.
- Solve a broad range of system problems of varying scopes and complexity, involving hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.
- Calibrate and repair the more complicated equipment such as high frequency counters and fast rise time oscilloscopes following established procedures or explicit oral instructions.
- Affix prescribed stickers and tags to equipment meeting prescribed levels of performance and record pertinent calibration and repair data as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain necessary reports and records as required.
- Perform associated routine duties such as moving and cleaning test equipment, Troubleshooting Electronic Components and making patch connections on distribution power panels.
