Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Section Manager 2 to be located in Roy, UT. Relocation assistance may be provided.

What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for a Systems Engineering discipline Section within the SDS Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to an SDS Systems Engineering Department Manager. You will provide career mentorship and operational support to a Functional Home Room (FHR) team (Section) of between 8 and 12 Individual Contributors (ICs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy. Key FHR responsibilities will be personnel performance management, process familiarization and training for Section members, as well as staffing of roles on projects.

As a Section Manager you will be expected to spend roughly 20% of your effort on Functional Homeroom responsibilities with 80% of your efforts focused on a technical assignment on an SDS project or IPT (80% technical scope not a part of the requisition)
.
The successful candidate will be experienced in systems engineering with one or more of the following specific skills: Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo), Requirements Management (DOORS), Verification Planning, and Interface definition and planning.

Essential functions include:
• Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
• Provide ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
• Supporting FHR efforts in areas of process improvement, training and staffing

• People leadership for a Minuteman III ICBM Sustainment systems engineering organization, to include performance management, career development, staffing, and merit planning.

• Provide project and technical oversight for activities performed by the group.

• Provide ownership of and direction to the processes used by the group.

• Create a vision for an engineering team and work to make that vision a reality.

• Provide proposal inputs and review proposal content for both internal and external customers.

• Support department initiatives, recruiting, technology roadmap creation, cross-campus/sector involvement, and NCTA project leadership.

• Lead a diverse team of engineers performing project development, technical requirements review, system support, planning and sustainment for a diverse set of products in the missile, air and space domains.

• Responsible for the strategic implementation of skills and labor mix; employee development; mentoring; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.

• Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant technical matters requiring coordination between organizations to ensure successful task completion and customer satisfaction.

• Responsibilities also include horizontal integration of best practices across the organization; maintaining cognizance over technical activities; and ensuring execution of project statement of work and baselines.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field and at least 8 years of related experience

• Must be a US Citizen with an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application with an investigation completed within the last 6 years

• 5 years of experience supporting system engineering, integration and test

• 1 year of experience providing technical leadership of an engineering team

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.

• 5 years of ICBM Sustainment experience

• At least 1 year leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

• 4+ years' experience with ICBM weapon system logistics, operations, security, and subsystem integration; 5 years of ICBM experience.

• Experience in providing Systems Engineering integration support for ICBM test stations and trainer systems.

• Experience with the development, management, and traceability of AF configured item requirements and specifications.

• Familiar with leading a team of test engineers and producing test plans, procedures, and reports assoicated with ICBM configured items.

• General knowledge of ICBM Specialty Engineering functions and responsibilities (i.e., Hardness, Configuration Management, Parts Engineering, Safety, etc.).

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused mindset.

Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 - $208,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
