Job Description:
Tria Federal supports the Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (DOL BLS). In this position you will be responsible for overseeing Data Center operations, network performance, system availability and monitoring. You will perform all the duties of a Network Engineer 2 with increased technical proficiency and working knowledge. Additionally, you may lead and coach lower-level technical staff to manage and monitor all aspects of supporting an enterprise Data Center.
Basic Requirements:
Five (5) years of experience covering Data Center support/engineering responsibilities such as:
• Rack installation
• Network cable management
• Crimping and running network cables
• Labeling and attaching network cables to patch panels
• Tracking power management of data cabinets and racks
• Managing data center inventory and peripherals
• Responsible for commissioning and decommissioning data center hardware (servers, appliances, etc.)
• Troubleshoot network performance and monitoring system availability
Responsibilities:
ABILITY TO OBTAIN A DOL PUBLIC TRUST CLEARANCE (Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder residing in the United States for more than 3.5 years
Work Location: ON-SITE SUPPORT in Ashburn, VA ( EQUINIX DC5)
Salary Range
$80,000 - $90,000 USD

Additionally, you may lead and coach lower-level technical staff to manage and monitor all aspects of supporting an enterprise Data Center.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or 6 years of relevant experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder that has been residing in the U.S. for the last 3.5 years
- CISCO CCNA or similar; datacenter certs, etc
Five (5) years of experience covering Data Center support/engineering responsibilities such as:
• Rack installation
• Network cable management
• Crimping and running network cables
• Labeling and attaching network cables to patch panels
• Tracking power management of data cabinets and racks
• Managing data center inventory and peripherals
• Responsible for commissioning and decommissioning data center hardware (servers, appliances, etc.)
• Troubleshoot network performance and monitoring system availability
- Three (3) years of hands-on Data Center experience supporting power, space, data cooling best practices and hardware
- Three (3) years of experience responsible for data center infrastructure build out, managing data center operations, perform routine maintenance and repairs
- Two (2) years of experience providing support for Cisco routers and switches along with having a working knowledge using network management tools and protocols such as Solarwinds, Netscout, SNMP and syslog
- Two (2) years of progressive experience in a Configuration and Change Management (CCM) environment
- Two (2) years of progressive experience leading or overseeing data center activities, projects, and escalations
- Data Center experience working with Dell Hardware/HP Blade Enclosures/Sun Oracle servers, KVM consoles and HP ProLiant servers.
- Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and conversions (i.e., Kilowatts, amps, phases, etc.)
- Self-starter, quick learner, adapt and retain Data Center related technologies and information
- Understanding of network telecommunications, Windows operating systems and TCP/IP protocol
- Understanding of data center physical and logical security and best practices
- Experience with developing technical documentation pertaining to data center project planning
- Capability to spend extended duration standing and walking and have the ability to lift 50 lbs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of Data Center related duties
- Maintain proficiency with current technologies to support an enterprise Data Center
- Assist in procurement, pricing, ordering of hardware and Data Center related supplies
- Develop, execute, and enforce Data Center best practices, processes, and procedures
- Monitor network resource allocation, utilization and perform IT capacity planning
- Provide OSI model layer 1 and 2 network troubleshooting and configurations
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly network availability and circuit utilization reports
- On-site support required
- There may be a need to cover other BLS locations in the DMV area
- Although not common, there may be a need to travel to other regional sites in the Continental US
