SENIOR SYSTEMS ENGINEER
Location: Colorado Springs, CO – Schriever Space Force Base
Clearance Required: Active Secret Clearance (or higher)
Travel Required: Up to 10%
LaunchTech is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This role guides complex systems engineering activities across the full system lifecycle, supports enterprise architecture development, leads Agile engineering practices, and provides technical and organizational leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Systems Engineer will:
• Perform systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, scheduling, documentation and traceability matrix development, preliminary design, critical design, detailed design, test and evaluation, system verification and validation, research and development, implementation and fielding, and sustainment and operations throughout the system lifecycle
• Scope and execute trade studies, analysis, detailed requirements definition, preliminary and detailed system architecture designs, and system development of Enterprise Services
• Develop junior and mid-level engineering personnel in Agile delivery practices, including capturing and decomposing work into Epics, Stories, and Tasks
• Maintain alignment supporting Team Leads in infrastructure, networks, integration, logistics plans, cybersecurity and physical security protection plans, and cost and schedule estimates for development, fielding, tests, and operations
• Coordinate with engineering leaders to support application of Process Engineering and Continuous Improvement for non-manufacturing engineering processes
• Communicate complex technical information to individuals with varying technical backgrounds and disciplines
• Provide status and briefings to leadership, including senior government customers and stakeholders
• Use interpersonal skills to resolve technical and organizational conflicts
• Perform other assigned duties as required to meet international requirements
What You Bring
Basic Requirements:
Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience:
• HS Diploma (or GED) and 16 years of general experience
• Associate’s degree and 14 years of general experience
• Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of general experience
• Master’s degree and 10 years of general experience
Additional basic requirements:
• Must have 9 years of directly related experience
• Must have 3 years of experience working in a management or leadership role
• Must have (and demonstrate) an understanding of Agile team management concepts, practices, and methods, and have training/education in Agile delivery concepts
• Must have expertise in systems engineering processes, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools, and engineering documentation management
• Must have a working knowledge of:
◦ Information technology infrastructure
◦ Networking
◦ Linux and Windows systems
◦ Virtualization
◦ Data storage management
◦ System lifecycle and change management
• Must have experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio or another CAD application, and Agile workflow management applications (Microsoft Planner, Jira, Asana, Trello)
• Must have, or obtain, an active Secret Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have a STEM degree from an accredited college
• Have experience leading teams supporting Missile Defense Agency Continuous Test and Training Operations (CTTO)
• Have documented experience developing and editing Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) products for major space and IT systems
• Have skills in logical architecture modeling and interface definition, as well as knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and security accreditation
• Be familiar with the C2BMC system and other Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) systems
