Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Software Developer specializing in Backend and Integration Engineering to design and implement robust, large-scale data ingestion and ETL workflows. This role is crucial for developing the secure pipelines that feed critical data and documents into analytical and AI systems for our Federal Government clients.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Backend/Integration Developer, you will:
• Design Ingestion Workflows: Lead the architecture and development of resilient, large-scale data ingestion and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines, ensuring high throughput and data quality.
• Orchestration & Automation: Utilize industry-leading frameworks (Airflow, Step Functions, Dagster, or Glue) to define, automate, and monitor complex data workflows and dependencies.
• Advanced Document Processing: Develop and integrate pipelines for document analysis, including Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and leveraging advanced Vision-Language Models/Large Language Models (VLM/LLM) for multimodal extraction and deep document understanding.
• Secure Cloud Integration: Implement backend services and integrate cloud-native components using AWS GovCloud services (Lambda, S3, ECS/EKS, SQS/SNS) to build scalable, fault-tolerant solutions.
• Security & Compliance: Apply a deep understanding of secure ingestion patterns and data protection mandates to ensure all pipelines are fully compliant with Federal requirements (FedRAMP High, RMF, CJIS).
Required Qualifications & Expertise
• Experience: Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in backend or integration engineering.
• Workflow Focus: At least 4+ years of hands-on experience in developing and managing large-scale ETL or data ingestion workflows.
• Programming Depth: Deep experience with one or more of the following languages: Python, Java, or Scala.
• Ingestion Frameworks: Direct, hands-on experience with workflow orchestration and ingestion frameworks such as Apache Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Dagster, or AWS Glue.
• AI/NLP Pipelines: Proven hands-on experience with integrating and managing OCR pipelines and leveraging VLM/LLM-based document understanding technologies for advanced, multimodal data extraction.
• AWS GovCloud: Extensive experience designing and deploying solutions using core AWS GovCloud services including Lambda, S3, ECS/EKS, and SQS/SNS.
• Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of secure ingestion patterns and data protection compliance requirements under FedRAMP High, RMF (Risk Management Framework), and CJIS.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with distributed messaging systems (e.g., Kafka).
• Familiarity with vector databases for unstructured data.
• Active Security Clearance (Secret, TS, or TS/SCI).
