Title: AI Solutions Architect / Technical Lead (SME)
Clearance: Top Secret
Location: Huntsville, AL
Contact: Cdinnocenti@altaits.com
Overview
We are seeking an expert-level AI Solutions Architect / Technical Lead (Subject Matter Expert - SME) to design and guide the implementation of mission-critical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) platforms for our Federal Government client. This role is ideal for a seasoned architect ready to manage the technical vision for large-scale, secure, and compliant AI systems in the cloud.
Key Responsibilities
• As the AI Solutions Architect, you will:
• Architect AI/ML Systems: Serve as the technical authority for designing robust, scalable, and highly available AI/ML solutions, focusing heavily on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Model (LLM) integration.
• Secure Cloud Deployment: Design and oversee the deployment of distributed systems within secure cloud environments, specifically AWS GovCloud, ensuring all infrastructure and workloads meet stringent security and compliance mandates.
• LLM & RAG Implementation: Define the technical strategy for hosting and serving LLMs at scale using specialized frameworks, and architect end-to-end Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures and vector search solutions.
• Compliance & Accreditation: Ensure all designed solutions adhere strictly to required Federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP High, RMF, CJIS), contributing to system accreditation documentation (ATO).
• Technical Guidance: Provide leadership and deep technical guidance to engineering teams on microservice architectures, container orchestration using Kubernetes/EKS, GPU workload management, and model observability best practices.
• Workflow Design: Define patterns and best practices for workflow orchestration and governance within the AI/ML pipeline lifecycle.
Required Qualifications & Expertise
• Experience: Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in enterprise architecture or large-scale system design.
• AI/ML Specialization: At least 5+ years of direct experience architecting and implementing live AI/ML or NLP systems.
• Cloud & Containerization: Deep expertise in deploying and securing systems within AWS GovCloud, and extensive experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (or EKS), especially managing resource-intensive GPU workloads.
• Distributed Systems: Proven experience designing and managing microservice architectures, distributed systems, and workflow orchestration.
• LLM/NLP Expertise: Hands-on experience with:
• LLM Hosting Frameworks (e.g., vLLM, Text Generation Inference (TGI), AWS SageMaker hosting).
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
• Implementing embeddings and vector search solutions.
• Designing solutions for model observability and monitoring.
• Compliance & Security: Demonstrated experience delivering systems that meet strict Federal compliance requirements, such as FedRAMP High, RMF (Risk Management Framework), or CJIS.
Desired Qualifications
• Active Security Clearance (e.g., Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI).
• Experience with specific vector database technologies (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus).
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or equivalent certification.
