Linux / Cloud / Splunk Engineer
Location: Norfolk, VA (Remote with *1-2x/month onsite, and as needed*)
Clearance: Active Secret required
We are seeking a proactive, go-getter Systems Engineer with strong Red Hat Linux, Splunk, and Cloud experience to support an OCS mission environment under a federal program. This engineer will work across Linux servers, Splunk deployments, and cloud integrations while supporting upgrades, troubleshooting, and mission operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage and administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems
• Support and maintain Splunk deployments on Linux, including UF/HF upgrades
• Perform troubleshooting, log analysis, and performance tuning on Linux/Splunk systems
• Support cloud-based engineering (AWS or Azure preferred)
• Assist with modernization, universal forwarder deployments, and system upgrades
• Collaborate with federal teams; teach/mentor junior staff
• Work onsite in Norfolk twice per month
Required Skills
• Active Secret Clearance (CAC card or recent DoD access required)
• Strong RHEL / Linux engineering background
• Hands-on Splunk experience (deployments, UF/HF, upgrades)
• Cloud experience (AWS/Azure)
• Scripting knowledge (Bash, Python, Ansible)
• Experience in DoD / Navy / federal contractor environments
• Proactive, self-starting attitude; able to support and mentor others
