Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Data Scientist - 15993. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.
Creates data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets. Analysis may have many applications such as to address a business issue or provide a competitive advantage for the organization. Requires strong statistical and data visualization skills.
In this role, you will be instrumental in managing, engineering, and analyzing diverse data sets across various business areas. Our team is dedicated to developing a culture of data-driven decision-making and creating business value by utilizing data analytics techniques. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, develop, and deploy data solutions that align with our strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, a self-starter, and capable of challenging the status quo while driving innovation in data engineering solutions. This position provides the chance to apply your expertise in data engineering to projects with significant impact. Responsibilities will include:
-The design and construction of scalable data pipelines to integrate various data sources within the defense sector.
-Develop and optimize data models and database management systems, working independently and mentoring junior engineers.
-Implement and enhance ETL processes and data warehousing solutions to ensure efficient data flow and storage.
-Maintain and improve DevOps practices, including version control, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment for data workflows.
-Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, translate them into data-driven solutions, and ensure alignment with strategic goals.
-Ensure adherence to data security protocols and compliance with industry regulations, demonstrating expertise in best practices.
-Engage in continuous learning to stay at the forefront of data engineering trends and technologies.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a with at least 3 years of relevant experience, 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
• At least 2 years of experience with Python or Scala for data processing; experience with querying and optimizing large datasets with relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, or MongoDB).
• At least 2 years of experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau for building business decision making dashboards
• At least 2 years of experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence for work flow management, integrating tools to streamline tracking and enhance collaboration across teams.
• At least 2 years of experience with Teamcenter objects and data mechanics and data sharing/collaboration with business systems
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in Product Design Engineering workflow processes for technical teams
• Experience with version control systems like Git and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins).
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server for database management, optimization, and querying, alongside experience with other relational and non-relational databases
• Technical experience within a Digital Engineering Ecosystem
• Experience with demonstrated proficiency in project management of engineering teams.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
Primary Level Salary Range: $108,200.00 - $162,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
