Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a part-time Power BI / Power Platform consultant to support a growing analytics program for a major government-funded initiative. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, can operate independently, and has strong hands-on experience across the Microsoft data ecosystem.
This is a Remote position that requires a Green Card holder or U.S. Citizen that can work 15-20 hours a week
Core Responsibilities
• Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, data models, and embedded report experiences
• Support and optimize Power Automate flows used for data ingestion from non-API sources
• Integrate and manage datasets from multiple APIs into the Azure/Fabric data environment
• Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled nightly and weekly refreshes
• Implement and maintain Azure Fabric / Data Lake pipelines and structures
• Apply and adjust Power BI Row-Level Security (RLS) rules
• Work directly with leadership to design new reporting features and onboard additional data sources
• Act as the primary onshore BI resource until the team expands (high independence required)
Required Experience (Non-Negotiables)
Candidates must have:
• 3-5+ years hands-on with Power BI (DAX, M queries, data modeling, visuals, embedding)
• Strong experience with Power Automate (building, troubleshooting, maintaining flows)
• Practical experience with Azure (Fabric, Data Lake, pipeline/workspace handling)
• Experience integrating data via APIs
• Ability to work independently and solve problems without heavy technical oversight
• Local to DC/MD/VA (must be able to attend occasional on-site sessions in Fairfax)
Preferred Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
• Experience working in consulting or small teams
• Background supporting government or large public-sector analytics programs
• Experience scaling analytics from dozens to hundreds of data sources
• Familiarity with embedded analytics portals
Role Snapshot
• Part-time: 15-20 hours per week
• Mostly remote , occasional coordination onsite
• Offers $85 - 95/ hr compensation
