MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Aviano, Italy. The selected candidate will provide maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Researches, plans, designs and develops new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems.Reviews contractor's standards, specifications and other documentation to determine repair requirements for vehicles and aviation ground systems.Designs, repairs or reviews gas and diesel engines, simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure systems meet required specifications.Gathers and correlates basic data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests in order to develop new applications or upgrade existing hardware.Guides and assists technicians in fabrication and installation of simple mechanical and related equipment and routine systems in order to ensure conformance of product and systems with engineering design and customer specifications.May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve equipment or system function.May review and correct drawings to ensure that products are in accordance with proper engineering techniques and specifications.Minimum Qualifications:Must obtain or already have an active Mission Visa and Soggiorno Permit to be considered.Ten (10) years of qualified automotive maintenance experience.Minimum six (6) of qualified mechanical experience including one or more of the following: light or heavy-duty trucks, ground power units, aircraft tugs, air conditioning and heater units, cargo loaders, de-icing vehicles, runway sweepers, light carts, fuel and defuel equipment.Proficient with a variety of hand tools, diagnostic tools, power tools, multi-meters.Experience effectively applying industry or military standard troubleshooting procedures to localize and isolate faulty system components.Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver's License for the location in which the work will be performed, a High School Diploma or GED, and a Passport valid for at least one year beyond the start date.Preferred Qualifications:Willingness to travel to various US or OCONUS locations.Familiarity with commercial and military aviation ground support equipment.Clearance Requirements:Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.Physical Requirements:Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.Must be able to push, pull, and reach.Must be able to work in high noise areas.Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard for long periods of time
