Job Description: Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) SME
DOD Active Security Clearance Required
Key Responsibilities
System Setup and Configuration
• Assist users with acquiring, installing, and configuring TAK servers and clients across distributed and bandwidth limited environments.
• Build TAK environments using COTS, GOTS, and Program of Record hardware and software.
• Configure TAK to operate over multiple communication pathways to meet mission needs.
• Federate TAK servers to enable secure data sharing with partner organizations.
Operational Employment and User Support
• Introduce FMF units to TAK Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures, and emerging capabilities that improve mission planning and execution.
• Help users employ TAK plugins, including ISR tools, Jumpmaster, fires (9-Line and Digital CAS), UAV control, survey tools, route planning, and tactical chat.
• Provide technical guidance to battle staffs on command and control workflows and required information flow to support Mission Essential Tasks.
• Deliver break/fix support in a fast paced operational environment, coordinating with FMF personnel and government stakeholders.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution
• Diagnose complex C2 system issues involving upgrades, interdependencies, version mismatches, network restrictions, ports, protocols, and firewalls.
• Research solutions using technical manuals, system guides, fleet advisory messages, and internal knowledge bases.
• Identify and escalate issues that require immediate attention.
Additional C2 System Support
• Provide remote assistance on related USMC C2 systems such as C2PC, TCS, GCCS-J, MCH, and JBC-P using approved ticketing and support processes.
• Create new knowledge base articles and short technical instruction videos for commonly encountered issues.
Exercise and Deployment Support
• Coordinate travel to support onsite requests during major exercises or contingency operations.
• Produce after action reports documenting onsite support, system findings, and recommendations.
Required Knowledge and Skills
• Understanding of TAK architecture, ICSF versions, data formats, and version compatibility.
• Familiarity with GCCS-TCO/JTCW/TCS configuration to support a MAGTF Common Operational Picture and COP Synchronization Tool coordination.
• Ability to troubleshoot Windows, Android, and iOS device configurations.
• Strong understanding of message formats and interoperability requirements across Programs of Record.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with Marines, civilians, and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+) or CCNA certification.
• Experience with tactical networks, cross domain solutions, SATCOM, or RF communications.
• Prior experience supporting C2 systems in an operational or exercise environment.
• Familiarity with USMC network architectures, FMF workflows, or MCTSSA support processes.
Clearance/Citizenship/Certification:
• Secret Security Clearance (TS/SCI eligible)
• Must be US Citizen
• CompTIA Security +
