Performance Tester

District Partners is supporting a federal program seeking a Performance Test Engineer with strong Python development experience. This is a multi-year engagement supporting a mission-critical environment, starting onsite in Ashburn. The work sits inside a large, high-visibility federal ecosystem where engineering quality matters, communication must be crisp, and automation drives everything. Once established, hybrid flexibility becomes available.

Candidates who thrive here tend to have a solid academic foundation from accredited US universities and a history of delivering production-grade work within reputable engineering or federal contracting environments (think Leidos, SAIC, Boeing, BAE, RTX, CACI, etc.). The project moves quickly, the expectations are high, and the bar for technical depth is very real.

What You'll Do:

• Build and maintain Python-based automation for complex data and API workflows
• Design and execute automation test scripts across regression, functional, and system testing
• Generate and validate test data across JSON, XML, and related data interfaces
• Create SQL or Unix scripts to support data generation and test harness automation
• Verify results, document findings, and manage defects from discovery through closure
• Support performance and integration testing across distributed systems
• Collaborate with users, engineers, and product teams; document user stories and defects in JIRA
• Work within modern IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse, etc.) to support development and test flows

What You'll Have:

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 9+ years of experience across test automation or software engineering
• Strong hands-on Python 3 development experience (non-negotiable)
• Java 8+; Spring Boot
• Selenium; Rest Assured for API/web service automation
• JavaScript experience
• Familiarity with UI automation tools (Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, Jest, etc.)
• Experience building automation frameworks from scratch
• Experience automating test data generation for regression suites
• Oracle/Postgres; PL/SQL
• Exposure to AWS is a plus

Desired Skills:

• Prior software engineering experience (Python or Java)

Location: Ashburn, VA (Onsite 5 days a week to start; hybrid available after ramp-up)

Compensation: 55/hr - 60/hr, depending on experience (1099/C2C)

Duration: Multi-year, long-term contract

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a DHS/CBP Public Trust

Citizenship: US Citizen
