The MQ-9 Aircraft Mechanic Lead is a highly qualified and skilled aircraft/composite mechanic with experience in structures, hydraulics, engines and avionics using diagrams, blueprints, and publications. They will directly support the USMC MQ-9 Site Manager by leading, performing, and inspecting organizational level maintenance while at the same time being available to support hands-on maintenance and leadership/training on an as needed basis. They will be part of a Deployment Pool and will support deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations, as required. This position will require the member to be flexible in the support of assigned deployment/work schedules.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of aircraft mechanics to complete daily aircraft maintenance tasks based on priorities set by their assigned supervisor.
- This position requires an individual that can apply expert technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting technical publications, manufacturers' manuals/instructions or similar documents through the usage of test equipment/instruments to affect repairs.
- Performs all daily launch/recovery duties in support of operational requirements.
- Inspect and repair power plant malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc.
- Diagnose malfunctions, isolate causes, and correct breaks.
- Test engine operations, use test equipment to locate source of malfunction(s).
- Replace/repair damaged components and remove engine/major components from aircraft, using hoist or other lifting devices.
- Disassemble and inspect parts for wear, warping, or other defects.
- Repair/replace defective engine components and reassemble and install engines in aircraft.
- Adjust, repair, or replace instruments, ADP flight controls, electrical/electronics, fuel/oil systems and associated aircraft accessories.
- Perform aircraft services to include engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and required maintenance checks.
- Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, rivet guns and drills.
- May specialize in repair and modification of engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.
- Recommend revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.
- Able to work without direct supervision.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- High School Diploma or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
- Eight (8) years of actual Aircraft Mechanic maintenance experience required.
- Three (3) years of experience on MQ-9 aircraft, as an Aircraft Mechanic.
- Advanced knowledge of basic and complex mechanical maintenance and repair.
- Advanced knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft mechanical maintenance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Know theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, theory of flight and electronic flight controls, and have an advanced understanding of applicable systems.
- Have been designated a CDI or Red-X inspector for MQ-9 aircraft.
- Able to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
- Have knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 NAMP and/or DAFI 21-101.
- Achieve a passing grade in all required courses/certifications for continued employment, as needed.
- Able to lift, carry and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
- Able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Current/active State Issued Driver's License.
- Able to acquire and maintain a valid flight-line Government Driver's License.
- Able to travel on CONUS/OCONUS deployments.
- Meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.
- Have a valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience supervising small teams in completing daily tasks.
- MQ-9 Aircraft Mechanic experience within the last two (2) years.
- Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic.
- MQ-9 Aircraft Composite Repair / Replacement Experience.
- NDI Qualified.
- Deployment experience.
- Associate degree in a relevant career field.
- Prior experience as a Defense Contractor.
