Duties

  • You will investigate suspected criminal and civil violations related to game and non-game, threatened and endangered wildlife, habitats, fish management and archaeological resources to meet environmental compliance.
  • You will perform foot and vehicle patrols, observations and checkpoints to enforce environmental rules and regulations.
  • You will interpret regulations and policy related to the conservation of natural resources (e.g., fish and wildlife management).
  • You will perform routine and special operations to assure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations.
  • You will perform law enforcement work in outlying areas enforcing laws respective to illegal disposal of hazardous waste, illegal hunting and fishing, disturbance of historical or archaeological sites.
  • You will plan and collect biological data such as deer surveys, deer harvest data and alligator census information in coordination with Wildlife Biologists and/or Game Wardens.
  • You will respond to nuisance wildlife complaints and will respond to incidents of killed and injured deer and other animals.
  • You will plan and conduct field operations such as food-plot and pond maintenance, wildlife habitat improvement projects and animal damage control.

  • The incumbent must be a qualified Conservation Law Enforcement Officer and maintain all standards as required/in accordance with MCO 5090.4.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting investigations of suspected violations of criminal and civil regulations of natural resources and performing routine and special law enforcement operations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education substitution can be used for qualifying for this position. To qualify based on education you must provide documentation showing:master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
