Duties

  • You will review completed work to verify compliance with aircraft servicing specifications and established procedures.
  • You will maintain a daily log of support services performed on aircraft.
  • You will perform maintenance on equipment (e.g., grounding devices, electrical power units, boarding ladders, maintenance stands, air units, air compressor, fire bottles, tow bars).
  • You will conduct pre-flight inspections to resolve any issues (e.g., defective parts, weight imbalance).

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Utilizing proper cargo-pallet tie-down procedures to load all cargo in the aircraft; 2) Performing miscellaneous maintenance (i.e. providing engine oil, fuel, high/low pressure oxygen and hydraulic systems maintenance, etc.) for transient aircraft.

Additional Information (Continued):
  • Incumbent must possess thorough knowledge and understanding of the operational characteristics and requirements of a variety of transcontinental and cargo aircraft.
  • Incumbent must possess thorough knowledge and skill in the build-up and loading of cargo pallets for various cargo aircraft, ensuring pallets conform to the configuration of aircraft.
  • Incumbent must be skilled in performing miscellaneous servicing of all transient aircraft, military helicopters, attack, fighter, trainer, passenger and cargo aircraft, commercial passenger and freighter aircraft.
  • Incumbent must be skilled and licensed to operate all Ground Support Equipment.
Physical Demands

Average weights handled are 30 to 40 lbs.; max 50lbs. Other line specialist assists when required to move or position cumbersome or heavy material. Forklift trucks and pallet jacks are available. Wearing safety shoes is a requirement. Work pace is rapid for short periods of time and heavy exertion is required infrequently/ Work is normally performed on hard surfaces and require the incumbent to climb, stoop, kneel, stretch, in strained and awkward positions and work in confined spaces. Work may be performed on high platforms or L-loaders and on aircraft wings.

Working Conditions:

The incumbent's work is performed mostly outdoors and is subject to high intensity noise levels requiring the wearing of sound protection gear. Outdoor work is occasionally subject to rain, strong wind with dust and cold weather. The incumbent is occasionally subject to smoke, dust, dirt, grease, noise, vibrations and unpleasant odors.
