As a Systems Engineer Senior, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USCENTCOM. You will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex infrastructure systems to ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of the environment. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional IT teams to integrate hardware, software, and network solutions while supporting ongoing operations for USCENTCOM.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and optimize systems architectures that support operational requirements for USCENTCOM.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather technical requirements and transform them into scalable solutions.
• Manage and configure virtualized environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and ensure smooth integration with existing infrastructure.
• Implement, configure, and maintain automation processes and scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) for infrastructure management and operations.
• Ensure systems are secure by configuring firewalls, access control lists, and other security measures.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
• Oversee the lifecycle management of systems and hardware, including upgrades, decommissioning, and provisioning.
• Maintain, test, and deploy disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Support software and hardware integration and ensure compatibility within existing infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams to design solutions for cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
• Provide engineering support during the planning and execution of USCENTCOM exercises, ensuring proper system functionality and performance.
• Work with vendors to evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools into the infrastructure.
• Continuously monitor systems for performance, security, and reliability improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Certification: Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
• Experience: 5+ years of related experience
• Technical skills:
  
  • Proven experience in systems engineering and infrastructure management.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization technologies and cloud-based solutions.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, and security measures.
  • Expertise in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and infrastructure.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain detailed documentation for systems, including design and configuration guides.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) principles and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Desired Skills:
  
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
  • Experience working with USCENTCOM and familiarity with its mission and operations.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) and hybrid environments.
  • Ability to design and implement disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
  • Experience with automation platforms for continuous integration and deployment.
• Security clearance level: TS/SCI clearance required.
• US citizenship required
• Role requirements:
  
  • Support cross-functional IT teams on projects involving infrastructure design, deployment, and integration.
  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of systems, ensuring high availability and efficiency.
  • Research and implement emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve infrastructure systems.
