About the Role
We are seeking a Principal Test Equipment Design Engineer. This position is ideal for engineers with a strong background in electrical design and software programming/automation, eager to apply their skills to developing advanced test platforms and architectures for mission-critical systems.
You will work on projects that involve analog/digital, RF, high-power, and embedded software/firmware design, integrating customized and COTS Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), electro-mechanical fixtures, and interface cabling. This role offers exposure to the full lifecycle development process, from requirements definition through deployment in production or field environments.

We are seeking a Principal Test Equipment Design Engineer. This position is ideal for engineers with a strong background in electrical design and software programming/automation, eager to apply their skills to developing advanced test platforms and architectures for mission-critical systems.
You will work on projects that involve analog/digital, RF, high-power, and embedded software/firmware design, integrating customized and COTS Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), electro-mechanical fixtures, and interface cabling. This role offers exposure to the full lifecycle development process, from requirements definition through deployment in production or field environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy complex factory test systems in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Lead development of test hardware, software, and firmware from requirements through deployment.
- Work with engineering and production teams early in the development cycle to ensure test readiness.
- Identify and resolve test readiness issues and optimize processes throughout the lifecycle.
- Lead medium-to-large teams to meet budget, schedule, and performance commitments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
- Prepare and present project status to leadership; report financial and earned value metrics.
- Manage risks and opportunities proactively.
- Support manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging.
- Contribute to bid and proposal development for cost, schedule, and technical solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance (Can start with Interim)
- Bachelor's degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
- 8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- 4+ years of direct experience in Test Equipment design and development.
- Experience leading technical teams and projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MS Project, Jira/Confluence, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS).
- Familiarity with National Instruments TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, LabVIEW.
- Hands-on experience with digital, analog, RF, and power supply test hardware design.
- Experience automating commercial test equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, power supplies).
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
