Position: Network Security Firewall Engineer (Check Point Certified)
Location: McLean, VA or Smyrna, GA (onsite)
Client: Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
Security Clearance:
• Active DoD Secret Clearance Required
Citification:
• Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE), or Check Point Certified Security Master (CCSM).
• CompTIA Security+ CE
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Firewall Engineer with strong expertise in Check Point Firewall technologies to support the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, administering, and maintaining secure firewall solutions while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements and industry best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, configure, and manage Check Point firewall solutions to protect enterprise network infrastructure.
• Administer and maintain Check Point firewalls, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security.
• Monitor firewall logs, alerts, and security events to detect, investigate, and respond to potential security threats.
• Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to develop, implement, and enforce network security policies and firewall rules.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and firewall audits to identify and mitigate risks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve firewall-related incidents, connectivity issues, and performance problems.
• Develop and maintain documentation including firewall configurations, security policies, network diagrams, and incident reports.
• Participate in cybersecurity incident response activities and coordinate with security teams to ensure timely resolution of security incidents.
• Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats, firewall technologies, and security best practices to continuously improve network security.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and team members.
Qualifications:
• Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (Required).
• Minimum 5 years of experience administering enterprise firewalls in a DoD environment.
• CompTIA Security+ certification.
• One of the following Check Point certifications:
• Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE), or
• Check Point Certified Security Master (CCSM).
• Strong knowledge of firewall architecture, VPNs, NAT, routing, access control policies, and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Check Point firewall solutions.
• Experience with DoD cybersecurity policies, compliance requirements, and security frameworks.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field (Preferred).
