Responsibilities
Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions' to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings.
Noblis MSD is recruiting for a Principal Systems Engineer position supporting Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) . This position will work with acquisition program managers, R&D specialists, and other engineers in supporting in-service and new submarines at NSWCPD, including SSN(X). The Systems Engineer will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for architecting, developing, and governing complex SysML/UAF system models using Cameo Systems Modeler and Teamwork Cloud. This role leads cross-functional engineering teams, ensures model consistency and quality, and drives the integration of safety, cybersecurity, and mission requirements across the full system lifecycle. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will handle defining, developing, and guiding large-scale SysML/UAF system architectures across multi-year engineering programs. You will lead an MBSE team responsible for setting up modeling standards and ensuring architectural coherence within Cameo Systems Modeler and Teamwork Cloud. You will collaborate closely with various systems, software, safety, and cybersecurity stakeholders to translate mission needs into clear, operational, functional, and physical architectures supported by a robust digital thread.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead development and governance of enterprise-level system architectures using SysML/UAF.
- Define modeling conventions, architectural frameworks, and reusable patterns for the program.
- Oversee MBSE team workflows, including reviews, branching strategies, merges, and baselines in Teamwork Cloud.
- Translate stakeholder capability requirements into operational, functional, and resource architectures.
- Ensure full traceability from requirements to architecture, behavior, interfaces, and verification.
- Collaborate with SMEs to refine requirements and align system functions, safety constraints, and cybersecurity considerations.
- Produce architecture views and model-based artifacts for major design reviews (SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR).
- Lead creation and management of enterprise-level MBSE architectures in SysML/UAF.
- Establish modeling standards, schema, and governance for long-term digital engineering programs.
- Guide MBSE engineers through model development, reviews, branching, merging, and baselining within Teamwork Cloud.
- Develop Trade Space Definition, Exploration and Reduction (TSDER) HM&E Systems Modeling for the SSNX Program Office and other SSNX system designers.
- Conduct stakeholder engagement, document analysis, and SME interrogation to clarify ambiguous requirements.
- Maintain a coherent digital thread from capability needs through verification and risk.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in an engineering field and 8 + years in systems engineering with extensive experience in MBSE.
- Extensive experience in systems engineering and MBSE architecture leadership.
- Expert proficiency with SysML, UAF, Cameo Systems Modeler, and Teamwork Cloud.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interrogate SMEs and lead cross-functional teams.
- Experience working within safety frameworks and integrating cybersecurity considerations into architecture.
- Familiarity with DoD processes, safety frameworks, and cybersecurity compliance.
- Experience supporting RMF accreditation or Zero Trust architecture development.
- Background in integrating MBSE with DOORS, Jira, or similar digital engineering toolchains.
- US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
