Position Summary
The Patch & Test Technician provides Tier I/II support to the Patch and Test Facility (PTF) supporting multiple autonomous, secure networks at MacDill AFB. This role ensures reliable connectivity for hundreds of devices used by thousands of customers-including mission-critical VIP users. The technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate with internal IT divisions to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement new capabilities across the enterprise.

Position Summary

This role ensures reliable connectivity for hundreds of devices used by thousands of customers-including mission-critical VIP users. The technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate with internal IT divisions to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement new capabilities across the enterprise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Prioritize daily work tasks in a high-operational-tempo environment.
- Provide Tier I/II support for all tech control devices across the AOR on multiple secure networks.
- Assist and coordinate with other Division IT sections to support project execution, troubleshooting efforts, maintenance activities, and service implementation.
- Travel within the AOR as required to support services at forward locations.
- Perform shift work as required to maintain 24/7 operations.
- Open, track, and close tickets in Remedy and FACIT.
- Conduct daily inventory and accountability of assigned equipment.
- Maintain the Master Station Log (MSL).
- Coordinate circuit outages and Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) with DISA and other agencies.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot cryptographic equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve local and remote circuit outages.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
- 4+ years of experience working in a Tech Control environment (desired).
- CompTIA Security+ Certification (IAT Level II).
- Must possess a valid U.S. Passport.
- Extensive experience maintaining an operational long-haul communications facility in a high-paced, diverse military telecommunications environment.
- Strong background designing and maintaining long-haul data/voice transmission systems using cable, fiber, satellite, and related technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting ATM, SONET, and IDNX/PROMINA systems.
- In-depth long-haul systems diagnostic and problem-resolution capability.
- Experience working with cryptographic devices and secure data/voice transmission procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with encryption devices such as KG-175D/G/F and KIV-7M.
- Familiarity with higher-level transport infrastructure (ATM, SONET, ODXC, etc.).
- Previous experience working in a military Tech Control Facility (TCF/PTF).
