Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide expert guidance and mentorship to other Data Scientists and Analysts, fostering a culture of data literacy and collaboration across the organization
- Lead the design and implementation of complex data collection, storage, and retrieval processes, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility for analysis and reporting
- Conduct advanced data analysis and modeling, using cutting-edge statistical techniques, data mining, and machine learning algorithms to uncover hidden patterns, trends, and correlations within large data sets. Lead the development and implementation of innovative data strategies and frameworks, driving data-driven decision making and organizational learning
- Develop predictive models, conduct simulations, and perform statistical analysis to provide actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives, optimize program performance, and support informed decisionmaking
- Create sophisticated reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively communicate complex data findings and insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Leverage advanced data visualization tools and techniques to present data in a clear, concise, and compelling manner, enabling stakeholders to understand complex information and make data-driven decisions
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments to understand their data needs, identify opportunities for data-driven innovation, and develop customized solutions that address specific business challenges. Contribute to the development and implementation of data governance policies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data science, including emerging technologies, algorithms, and analytical techniques, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of data-driven decision making. Contribute to the data science community through publications, presentations, and participation in industry events, sharing their knowledge and expertise to advance the field. Provides direction and mentorship to subordinate staff
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in field necessary to assume Data Scientist IV duties or a minimum of 12 years years of relevant Data Scientist IV experience.
- High School and 4 years of additional experience or Associate's Degree and 2 years of additional experience may be exchanged in lieu of a required Bachelor's degree
- A candidate holding a relevant Master's degree may be granted 2 years' experience credit for that extra education. A candidate holding a relevant PhD degree may be granted 4 years' experience credit for that extra education.
- Seven years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of successfully leading and implementing complex data-driven solutions
- Extensive experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and techniques, including the ability to create compelling data stories and presentations. Deep knowledge of data warehousing, Data Lake concepts, and data architecture principles.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their associated data storage, processing, and analytics services. Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing data strategies and frameworks, aligning data initiatives with organizational goals and objectives. Strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and relevant data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Proven ability to identify data requirements, ensure data quality and integrity, and implement comprehensive data collection, storage, and retrieval processes. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to extract insights from complex data sets and translate them into actionable recommendations for decision making.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field. Demonstrated knowledge of IT service management best practices and their integration with data science initiatives.
- Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and its application to data security and privacy. Experience with Zero Trust Architecture principles and their implementation in data environments.
- Experience with enterprise applications Advana, Databricks, Ask Sage and Palantir's Maven Smart System.
- Experience with enterprise scale design and architecture concepts including Zero Trust, App Rationalization and Cloud Migration.
- Relevant certifications in data science or data analytics (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), Cloudera Certified Professional Data Scientist (CCP:DS)). ITIL Foundation certificate.
- Experience at a DoD Combatant Command (e.g., SOUTHCOM, NORTHCOM, CENTCOM, CYBERCOM, INDOPACOM, EUCOM, AFRICOM, STRATCOM, TRANSCOM, SOCOM, SPACECOM) or a component is desired.
Clearance Requirements:
- Must have an active Secret clearance and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
