You will be co-leader for a critical wind tunnel operations team at the modern "Low-speed 2 Wind Tunnel" (L2WT) at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Skunk Works. This small team requires dedicated involvement in all aspects of aerodynamic testing including test preparation, test execution, and data presentation.

What You Will Be Doing
As the Aeronautical Engineer Senior you will be responsible for leveraging technical and leadership skills to contribute to the abundant testing for numerous programs in the L2WT and occasionally support off-site wind tunnel test(s). Your responsibilities will include:
• Developing innovative affordable and low-risk testing approaches to meet customer test objectives
• Integrating and calibrating instrumentation, actuation devices, and electronics utilized for data acquisition
• Designing complex and affordable rapid-prototype wind tunnel models and support hardware utilizing existing digital twin CATIA model
• Overseeing fabrication and assembling support system components and model parts
• Operating wind tunnel and executing test plans in accordance with customer requirements
• Preparing, analyzing and delivering data to customers
• Modifying and enhancing custom software
Additionally, the successful candidate will continuously improve the existing data acquisition systems, motion control systems, pressure measurement systems, and data reduction and presentation procedures.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred; or equivalent experience/combined education considered

- Direct experience working in the wind tunnel technical testing environment or hands-on work in an aerodynamics laboratory environment

- Experience in design with 3-D Solid Modeling CAD systems

- Technical team leadership experience

- Effective customer engagement

- Project engineering experience, including schedule and budget analysis
Desired Skills:
- Strong organizational, communication, team collaboration, and leadership skills

- Experience in instrumentation, computers, electronics, and computer programming.

- Knowledge of Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), primarily focused on the acquisition of strain gages, pressure transducers, and temperature probes.

- Knowledge of various software codes (Excel Visual Basic, LabWindows/CVI, LABVIEW, C, C++, Fortran) to maintain and develop new capabilities.

- Experience with hands-on hardware and wiring in a lab environment.

- Ability to develop and effectively communicate clear technical presentations for customers and suppliers.

- Microsoft Office Skills - Excel, PowerPoint, Word.

- Basic knowledge of Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
