Electrical Harness Design Engineer - Combat Vehicles

Troy, MI

Contract Position

$40.70-$45.70/Hour

Ability to Obtain and Maintain Secret Clearance

Join a team dedicated to designing and producing armored combat and support vehicles. As a prime mover in ground force capabilities, this firm provides innovative solutions that ensure the safety and effectiveness of military personnel worldwide, focusing on durability, mobility, and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Design electrical wiring harnesses, including selection of connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, and transitions.
  • Define harness routing layout across vehicle platforms and multi-branch configurations.
  • Apply environmental requirements (temperature, shock, vibration, submergence, chemical exposure) into harness design.
  • Design using Capital Harness System (CHS) tools-Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology.
  • Collaborate with CAD teams to:
    • Route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E Creo and/or Siemens NX)
    • Develop electrical installation drawings, harness drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Work with:
    • Systems engineers to define pin-level interconnects
    • Vehicle architects to determine routing paths and space claims


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 1 year of post-graduate experience in relevant engineering field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) tools (Harness XC, Capital Logic, Capital Topology) preferred
  • Familiarity with Pro-E Creo and/or Siemens NX preferred
  • Ability to use engineering development and test tools
  • Must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
  • Previous experience with ground combat vehicles is a plus
  • Must be able to work occasional evening/weekend hours as needed
