As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Release Manager plans, coordinates, and executes software releases across development, test, staging, and production environments. This role ensures deployment readiness, controlled release processes, environment alignment, and clear stakeholder communication to support predictable, high-quality delivery cycles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop, maintain, and manage release calendars, schedules, and deployment timelines.

• Conduct release readiness reviews and verify that prerequisites, quality gates, and approvals are satisfied.

• Coordinate release activities across development, QA, configuration management, DevSecOps, operations, and stakeholder teams.

• Prepare and maintain release documentation, including release notes, deployment instructions, rollback strategies, and issue logs.

• Track release risks, issues, and dependencies and escalate concerns when needed.

• Support environment alignment to ensure consistency across configuration items and deployment artifacts.

• Validate system functionality after deployments by monitoring logs, metrics, and system behaviors.

• Communicate release status, updates, timelines, and impacts to stakeholders.

• Facilitate go/no-go decisions and support post-release verification activities.

• Identify process gaps and contribute to continuous improvement of release management practices.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Minimum of five (5) years of release management or enterprise deployment coordination experience.

• Experience planning and coordinating software deployments across multi-tier environments.

• Understanding of deployment workflows, configuration alignment, and dependency mapping.

• Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

• Ability to coordinate activities across technical and functional teams.

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery cycles.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:

• Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.

• Experience supporting CI/CD-driven release processes.

• Familiarity with deployment automation tools or version control systems.

• Familiarity with environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

CLEARANCE:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

WORK LOCATION:

• Remote
