As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Operations Manager oversees day-to-day operational activities, ensuring system availability, stability, and performance across environments. This role manages operational workflows, coordinates technical and functional teams, supports readiness for releases and updates, and drives improvements to operational efficiency and service quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee system monitoring, operational workflows, issue triage, and production support coordination.
• Manage operational queues, service requests, and assignments across technical teams.
• Support planning and coordination of maintenance windows, deployments, and environment updates.
• Maintain operational documentation including SOPs, runbooks, checklists, and process guides.
• Monitor key performance indicators, system health metrics, and operational trends.
• Identify areas for operational improvement and collaborate on solutions.
• Facilitate operational communication with stakeholders including status updates and incident reports.
• Support root cause analysis for outages, defects, or operational incidents and track remediation.
• Ensure environments are prepared, stable, and aligned for releases and sustained operations.
• Promote operational best practices including standardization and automation wherever feasible.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT operations, service management, or technical support leadership.
• Strong understanding of operational processes, incident management, and environment stability practices.
• Experience coordinating technical teams, tracking operational activities, and maintaining structured documentation.
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to diagnose operational issues and collaborate on corrective actions.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, logs, and performance indicators.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks.
• Understanding of release management, environment alignment, or DevSecOps practices.
• Familiarity with environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Remote
