Description:
An AWS Cloud Developer is needed to join a team supporting a federal financial customer. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to cloud-native solution development, infrastructure automation, and the modernization of mission-critical services, including file transfer and messaging queue (MQ) platforms, in a secure and agile AWS environment. The role is part of a broader mission supporting key government programs across intelligence, space, cyber, defense, civilian, health, and state and local markets.
Location: Washington DC (Remote)
Pay: $55 - $60 an hour
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a W2 basis and convert to FTE following contract duration. Responsibilities:
Ø Lead the strategic planning and execution of migrating and maintaining large complex data flows to modern cloud environments, specifically leveraging AWS cloud technologies
Ø Write clean, maintainable infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and cloud service logic using tools such as Python, Ansible, and AWS CloudFormation or CDK.
Ø Develop and deploy event-driven and containerized applications using Lambda, Step Functions, and Kubernetes (EKS).
Ø Support and enhance COTS products providing file transfer and MQ services (e.g., IBM MQ, Connect:Direct), integrating them into modern AWS architectures.
Ø Perform troubleshooting, performance tuning, and documentation of AWS environments and deployed solutions.
Ø Coordinate closely with stakeholders across teams to manage integration and interface requirements, ensuring clear communication and alignment with overall business objectives.
Ø Design and develop cloud-native solutions. This is an opportunity to use the latest cloud technologies as you look for ways to improve your client's environment using current cloud capabilities.
Experience Requirements:
Ø Professional experience in software development, including substantial experience in technical leadership capacity.
Ø Strong background in AWS cloud engineering and development, including experience with services such as: EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, SNS, SQS, Glue, EKS/ECS
Ø Proficient in scripting and programming languages: Python, Ansible, Bash
Ø Experience developing or supporting infrastructure using CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
Ø Experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
Ø Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Ø Experience communicating with business users and stakeholders.
Ø Experience supporting or integrating file transfer and MQ tools (e.g., IBM MQ, Connect:Direct).
Ø Familiarity with Agile methodologies and participation in Agile delivery teams (e.g., Scrum, SAFe).
Ø Understanding compliance and security best practices in federal financial cloud environments.
Education Requirements:
Ø Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience or 9 years of experience with a HS Diploma.
