As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Integration Engineer designs, develops, supports, and maintains integrations, data exchanges, interfaces, and interoperability components across enterprise systems. This role ensures stable, accurate, and reliable communication between systems and services and collaborates closely with technical teams to maintain seamless data and workflow connectivity across applications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, implement, and maintain system-to-system integrations, APIs, data exchanges, and interoperability solutions.
• Analyze integration requirements including data mapping, transformation rules, payload structures, and interface specifications.
• Develop or modify service endpoints, REST APIs, WebAPI integrations, and data transformation logic.
• Troubleshoot integration issues including malformed payloads, connection failures, unexpected responses, and performance bottlenecks.
• Document interface logic, integration points, mapping rules, dependencies, and system interactions.
• Support integration testing including validation of workflows, error handling, retries, and performance characteristics.
• Monitor integration workflows and respond to failures, degraded performance, or anomalies.
• Collaborate with data engineers, database teams, developers, and architects to resolve integration concerns.
• Participate in change management and release planning when integrations are affected.
• Ensure integration solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Minimum of five (5) years' experience supporting system integrations, API development, or interface engineering.
• Strong experience analyzing system interfaces, workflows, endpoints, and integration dependencies.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, WebAPI, data transformation, and structured data formats.
• Ability to troubleshoot integration problems including payload structure, authentication, and response handling.
• Strong documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
• Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Familiarity with service bus technologies, event-driven architectures, or workflow automation.
• Understanding of security considerations related to integrations including authentication tokens and access controls.
• Experience working in environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Remote
