As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Enterprise Architect provides technical leadership and architectural direction across application, data, integration, and infrastructure domains. The role defines target-state architectures, evaluates current-state systems, documents standards, and guides modernization to ensure scalable, secure, and mission-aligned solutions.

As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Enterprise Architect provides technical leadership and architectural direction across application, data, integration, and infrastructure domains. The role defines target-state architectures, evaluates current-state systems, documents standards, and guides modernization to ensure scalable, secure, and mission-aligned solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks, principles, and reference models.
- Assess current-state architectures and create target-state blueprints aligned with modernization goals.
- Analyze system interactions, integration patterns, data flows, and enterprise dependencies.
- Collaborate with development, data, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure architectural alignment.
- Document architecture diagrams, interface definitions, models, and solution guidance.
- Participate in solution design reviews, governance processes, and technical decision-making.
- Identify risks, redundancies, technical debt, and optimization opportunities.
- Support modernization initiatives with emerging technology evaluations and recommendations.
- Ensure architectural compliance with scalability, maintainability, interoperability, and security requirements.
- Mentor technical teams and promote architectural best practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of ten (10) years of enterprise or solution architecture experience.
- Deep understanding of multi-tier architectures, integration patterns, and application ecosystems.
- Experience defining architectural roadmaps for complex enterprise systems.
- Strong system modeling and documentation skills .
- Ability to collaborate with technical staff, SMEs, and leadership.
- Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures, microservices, or event-driven patterns.
- Understanding of API ecosystems, service integration, and distributed architectures.
- Experience working in environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
