As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Configuration Manager ensures consistent control over system baselines, configuration items, documentation, and changes across environments. This role manages configuration processes, maintains authoritative configuration records, supports change management activities, and works closely with development, security, and release teams to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance.

As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Configuration Manager ensures consistent control over system baselines, configuration items, documentation, and changes across environments. This role manages configuration processes, maintains authoritative configuration records, supports change management activities, and works closely with development, security, and release teams to ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage configuration items, baselines, version histories, and controlled repositories.
- Maintain configuration documentation including inventories, diagrams, attributes, and relationships.
- Coordinate change management processes including evaluation, impact analysis, and approval workflows.
- Work with technical teams to ensure alignment of environments, configurations, and deployment artifacts.
- Conduct configuration audits, reviews, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Document configuration management procedures and maintain configuration control artifacts.
- Support release management activities by ensuring configuration consistency across environments.
- Identify configuration risks and collaborate with stakeholders to plan mitigation strategies.
- Maintain authoritative configuration libraries and ensure secure access control.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of configuration management or systems management experience.
- Strong understanding of configuration baselines, version control practices, and system inventories.
- Experience with change control processes, configuration audits, and reconciliation activities.
- Ability to analyze configuration dependencies, maintain traceability, and identify configuration risks.
- Strong communication and documentation skills for technical and operational stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating across development, DevSecOps, security, and release teams.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Familiarity with automated configuration validation or integration with CI/CD processes.
- Understanding of environment management and release coordination.
- Experience working in environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
