As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Business Process Engineer analyzes, designs, and optimizes business processes to improve operational efficiency, user experience, and system effectiveness across enterprise applications. This role partners with business stakeholders, SMEs, analysts, and technical teams to evaluate current workflows, develop improved process models, support modernization efforts, and ensure alignment between business practices and system capabilities.

As part of the EASS eCMS program supporting modernization and sustainment of VA acquisition systems, the Senior Business Process Engineer analyzes, designs, and optimizes business processes to improve operational efficiency, user experience, and system effectiveness across enterprise applications. This role partners with business stakeholders, SMEs, analysts, and technical teams to evaluate current workflows, develop improved process models, support modernization efforts, and ensure alignment between business practices and system capabilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead analysis of existing business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Develop optimized future-state process models, decision flows, and workflow diagrams.
- Facilitate discovery sessions with stakeholders, SMEs, and functional teams to gather requirements and clarify process intent.
- Align proposed process improvements with system capabilities, data requirements, and user needs.
- Support development of documentation including process maps, operating procedures, business rules, and traceability artifacts.
- Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams to ensure process designs are feasible and consistent with system constraints.
- Evaluate process impacts resulting from system changes, policy updates, or modernization initiatives.
- Assist in change management planning and support user readiness for process changes.
- Contribute to metrics definition, performance indicators, and process monitoring mechanisms.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies to ensure that process considerations are reflected in requirements and development planning.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of business process engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in developing process models, workflow diagrams, and business rules.
- Ability to translate business needs into structured process improvements and actionable recommendations.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams across business, development, testing, and operations.
- Strong facilitation, analysis, documentation, and communication skills .
- Proficiency in eliciting requirements and conducting structured discovery sessions .
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DESIRED:
- Experience working with Federal agencies, particularly the Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting training, change management, or user adoption efforts.
- Experience working in environments built on Azure, .NET, SQL Server, IIS, and related VA enterprise technologies.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science , Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
