Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.

Description
Peraton is seeking Junior Software Engineer. A junior Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, and maintains software applications by applying engineering principles to solve user needs and to address business problems. Their work includes writing and optimizing code, collaborating with other teams to define requirements and troubleshoot issues, and documenting software solutions throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Create new software programs, business applications, operating systems, or update existing ones using various programming languages.
- Write, optimize, and integrate code into software applications, ensuring it is clean, efficient, and maintainable.
- Conduct tests, both manual and automated, to ensure software functions correctly and to identify and fix any bugs or errors.
- Work with cross-functional teams, clients, stakeholders, and other engineers to gather requirements and gather feedback for improvements.
- Prepare design documents, user manuals, code comments, and other documentation to explain the software's functionality and design for future reference.
- Monitor software performance, make necessary updates, and ensure the scalability and security of applications.
- Investigate problem areas and use their technical knowledge to design and implement software solutions to meet specific needs.
Qualifications
Requirements
- 5 years with BS/BA, 3 years with MS/MA, 0 with PhD, 9 years with HS diploma
- Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
- Primary work locations in Tacoma, WA, Aurora, CO, San Antonio, TX, and Falls Church, VA. Remote work may be considered in special cases when approved by the customer.
- Proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, with knowledge of software design principles and version control systems like Git.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to debug issues and find efficient solutions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members in an Agile Framework development environment
- Ability to write clean, well-documented code that meets design specifications.
- Openness to learning new technologies and adapting to changing project requirements.
