About The Role

Description

Peraton seeking a Mid-level Software Engineer. As Mid-level Software Engineer this position involves designing, coding, testing, and maintaining software with some independence. Responsibilities include writing clean code, troubleshooting bugs, participating in code reviews, contributing to design and architectural decisions, and sometimes mentoring junior developers. Key qualifications often include a few years of professional experience, strong problem-solving skills, and proficiency in relevant programming languages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Software development: Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications from start to finish, often handling both new and existing projects.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including product managers, QA teams, and other engineers, to deliver features and solutions.
  • Quality and best practices: Participate in code reviews, write clear and efficient code, and contribute to improving software quality and development processes.
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance: Identify and fix bugs, troubleshoot issues, and work on performance improvements for existing software.
  • Mentorship: Occasionally mentor junior developers and help onboard new team members.
  • Technical design: Contribute to technical designs and architectural discussions, ensuring software is robust for future development.

Qualifications

Requirements
  • 5 years of experience with BS/BA; 3 years of experience with MS/MA; 0 years of experience with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Experience in system engineering job roles or equivalent years of experience
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Clearance
  • Primary work locations in Tacoma, WA, Aurora, CO, San Antonio, TX, and Falls Church, VA. Remote work may be considered in special cases when approved by the customer.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in one or more programming languages, object-oriented design principles, and knowledge of software development best practices (e.g., coding standards, version control, testing).
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to tackle complex issues independently.
  • Communication: Good communication skills to explain complex technical concepts and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Independence: Ability to work with minimal supervision, take ownership of tasks, and navigate ambiguity.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience working within Military Health environments is a plus

Details

Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
