This role combines deep expertise in enterprise IT (including cloud and hybrid infrastructure, networking, server architecture, and platform engineering) with knowledge of DoD cybersecurity requirements and practical understanding of public safety/mission operations (border security, mission command, incident/critical response). The Senior Solutions Architect will partner with capture managers, proposal leads, SMEs, delivery teams, and business development to shape winning strategies and ensure solutions are technically rigorous, compliant, and executable.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical solutioning and proposal authorship for DHS and DoD pursuits: produce technical volumes, anchor graphics, notional and reference architectures, compliance matrices, and security artifacts.
  • Translate public safety and defense operational workflows (border operations, mission command, incident response, critical infrastructure protection) into implementable, secure architectures that prioritize operational readiness.
  • Design and document enterprise IT solutions encompassing secure networking architectures, server infrastructure (physical and virtualized), and operational continuity strategies to support distributed and mission-critical environments.
  • Ensure architectures and solutions comply with DoD and DHS cybersecurity requirements. Incorporate concepts like zero trust, identity & access management, and monitoring.
  • Produce LOE estimates, staffing profiles, and technical cost drivers; partner with capture, pricing, and staffing leads to align technical and commercial strategy.
  • Lead customer briefings, technical demonstrations, PoCs, and solution walkthroughs for program and technical leadership.
  • Mentor and coach architects, SMEs, and engineering teams on capture best practices, proposal-quality writing, and delivering secure operational solutions.
  • Maintain currency with DoD/DHS mission priorities, federal security frameworks, and public safety technology trends.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in solution architecture, enterprise systems engineering, or technical leadership supporting federal/public sector or mission-critical enterprise customers.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience supporting DoD or DHS customers (or equivalent enterprise defense/public safety programs).
  • Proven track record leading capture and proposal efforts (architecture design, technical volume authorship, anchor graphics, LOE estimation, oral technical presentations).
  • Expertise in enterprise networking and server infrastructure within secure government environments, including virtualization and support for mission-critical systems. Experience designing and supporting scalable architectures for distributed, mission-critical users.
  • Experience with cloud platform architectures and DevSecOps toolchains, including automated security processes and automated testing.
  • Experience in enterprise security, including zero trust, identity & access management, encryption, and DoD/DHS policies.
  • Familiarity with data integration and analytics for operational use cases (real-time ingest, geospatial analytics, streaming analytics).
  • Working knowledge of and practical experience with SAFe and Agile delivery frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to convert complex technical and policy requirements into clear, proposal-quality materials.

Additional Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Direct experience supporting DHS components (CBP, TSA, FEMA, USCG) or DoD customers on enterprise and operational programs.
  • Prior experience building PoCs/demos to support mission and operational needs.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition and solicitation compliance practices (FAR/DFARS).
  • Security/architecture certifications (CISSP, CCSP, SANS/GIAC, AWS/Azure Solution Architect), SAFe Agilist, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain or possess Public Trust, Secret, or higher clearance.
