Job Description:
The Sr. Associate, Facilities Engineer & Construction Management will plan, designs and oversees the reconfiguration of buildings, structures, and other facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detailed drawings. Utilize AutoCAD software to develop complete construction documents for a wide range of facility projects. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Defines project activities, sequences activities, estimates activity resources, estimates activity durations, and develops project schedules. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Prepares close out documents, updates as built drawings and electronic/AutoCAD historical files

Essential Functions:
- Candidates should have a general understanding of a wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the construction-engineering field, related to mechanical, electrical, structural, fire suppression, fire alarm, flooring, roofing and paving systems. Knowledge of architectural designs, building codes, construction/project management principles to include reviewing construction documents, submittals, and RFIs.
- Candidates will be required to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems, related to construction and facilities infrastructure. Solutions should be imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
- Candidates will be required to work under general guidance and supervision. With a combination of broad guidance and independence, candidates will determine and develop design concepts, detailed construction documents/plans to implement solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion by peers, team lead, and manager for adequacy in meeting objectives.
- Candidates will have the responsibility of being the lead project manager for construction projects. The impact of their contributions results in the level of success and failure related to meeting the project goals and objectives. The candidate's decisions and recommendations as project manager will have significant impact in meeting project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
- Candidates should be able to effectively communicate both written and orally and be capable in chairing meetings (i.e. pre-construction, pre-bid meetings) describing the project details to potential bidders, frequently interacting with inter-organizational departments as well as with outside subcontractor and vendors. Candidates will represent the organization as the main point of contact for specific construction projects and be looked to in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
- Candidates' skills shall include proficiency AutoCAD, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
Qualifications:
- Requires practical knowledge of job area. Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
- Engineering Disciplines: Construction, Construction Science, Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical and Industrial.(2-5 years of experience)
