Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a motivated entry or associate IndustrialEngineer to join the team located in Ridley Park, PA.

Boeing is a leading manufacturer of commercial airplanes and defense, space, and security systems.

The Boeing Vertical Lift Philadelphia facility (Ridley Park, PA) is situated along the Delaware River approximately 7 miles southwest of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 2 miles from the Philadelphia (PHL) international airport and minutes from both New Jersey and Delaware. This facility is home to the H-47 Chinook Helicopter and the V-22 Osprey Tiltrotor. These aircraft are designed, manufactured, and tested at the Philadelphia site and are delivered to both US military and international customers. There are approximately 3,500 people employed at this Boeing site.

Position Responsibilities:

The Philadelphia Industrial Engineers team with other Production Engineering disciplines and are engaged in changing, challenging and exciting roles. This Industrial Engineering role will be performed in a production environment along with other Production Engineers that are focused on supporting and improving production processes for the H-47 Chinook. Our Industrial Engineers are integral to leading the development and implementation of process enhancements aimed at improving production safety, first time quality, capability and efficiency.
  • Applies basic industrial engineering concepts, approaches and techniques to product, process and services to meet program requirements
  • Supports development of factory/equipment layouts, capacity plans, accident prevention measures, sequencing of operations and work flows
  • Participates in the evaluation of new techniques and technological developments for integration into the production process and service operations
  • Assists with designing, maintaining, and optimizing the production system by integrating design, supply base, facilities, equipment, and personnel
  • Conducts basic workflow design and analysis
  • Develops simple models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to leaders
  • Supports improvement and implementation of Lean processes and tools to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, for large scale systems integration and asset utilization. Documents product assembly instructions and standardizes assembly practices
  • Supports the preparation of operations plans, including work statement analysis, budgeting and forecasts, capacity and constraint analysis and production change, to ensure technical goals and objectives are met
  • Supports execution planning by using project management, planning and scheduling and shop load practices
  • Provides production, supply chain logistics, performance visibility and recovery planning support
  • Follows compliance requirements with established industry safety, design standards and ergonomic guidelines


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
  • Must currently have a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Experience in MS Office tool set: Excel, Word, PowerPoint


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
  • Level 2- Bachelor and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lean manufacturing methodologies
  • Demonstrated success collaborating in a teaming environment
  • Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Ability to collaborate with both the engineering workforce and production mechanics
  • Experience with Microsoft Access or SQL databases
  • 1 or more years' experience in a production work environment
  • Strong analytical/technical, problem solving and communication skills

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor), or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.

Level 2

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.

Summary pay range (level 1): $73,100 - $98,900

Summary pay range (level 2): $85,850 - $116,150
