Information Technology and Systems Project Manager

Position Summary:

KBR is seeking an Information Technology and Systems Project Manager to support the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) Logistics and Communications (S4/6) Directorate.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are looking for an individual who can directly support and foster a positive relationship with the team and our customer. The individual will work directly for the Lead IT Systems Engineer, providing support to ensure all project statuses are tracked, stay on schedule, and meet contract objectives. The individual will work directly with engineers, resource managers, and customers to ensure resources are allocated efficiently, to manage budgets, and to ensure project activities are aligned with organizational goals.

Duties will include, but not be limited to:
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Efficiently allocate resources (team, tools, infrastructure)
  • Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed
  • Proactively manage risks, issues, and dependencies
  • Ensure compliance with IT standards, policies, and security requirements
  • Gather and document business and technical requirements
  • Break down work into manageable tasks (Work Breakdown Structure)
  • Use project management methodologies
  • Track milestones and deliverables with project management tools (e.g., Confluence/Jira, MS Project, Trello)
  • Conduct regular status meetings and updates
  • Clearly assign roles and responsibilities
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders
  • Manage expectations and provide transparency
  • Resolve conflicts and encourage collaboration
  • Provide training or knowledge transfer when needed
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) (e.g., budget variance, schedule variance, resource utilization)
  • Perform quality assurance and pre-deployment testing
  • Manage change requests through a formal process
  • Document lessons learned and maintain project artifacts
  • Deliver final products/services to stakeholders
  • Obtain formal acceptance and sign-off
  • Conduct post-project reviews (e.g., retrospective or post-mortem)
  • Archive documentation for future reference
  • Celebrate success and recognize team contributions


Work Environment:

• Location: On-site, Schriever Space Force Base (SSFB)

• Travel Requirements: Minimal (0-10%)

• Working Hours: Standard

Requirements:

• Active Top Secret clearance required. Willingness to submit to initial and random polygraph(s) is required.

• Bachelors Degree required. Bachelors Degree in STEM area highly desired. Masters Degree highly desired. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Corresponding staff experience in systems engineering, capability integration, is highly desired.

• Ability to speak in public, brief senior leaders (O-6 and above), and write effectively is required.

• Ability to operate independently and manage team elements to meet contract requirements required.

• Highly effective organizational, interpersonal, communication, and group leadership skills are required.

• Ability to reliably operate in a complex and changing environment demonstrating solid independent judgment with minimal oversight is required.

• Experience leading diverse teams and personnel of varying experience levels and skill sets is required.

• Ability to interpret, capture, and manage customer requirements and expectations is required.

• 10+ years of experience in performing related tasks is preferred.

• Ability and willingness to travel (less than 10% estimate).

Preferred Qualifications and Skill Requirements:

• Scrum Master background, with experience building timelines/backlogs and documenting work

• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

• Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint experience

• Defense Acquisition University certification (practitioner or advanced, current or prior), to include: Program Management; Systems Planning, Research, Development & Engineering; and Test & Evaluation

• Familiarity with military operations, personnel, regulations, and organizations

• Familiarity with defense workflow processing software (TMT, JSAP, etc.)

• Experience with Microsoft Office software suite preferred

Basic Compensation:
  • $130K - $150K

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
