Job Title: Senior Technical Editor
Duration: 1 year, with 2 option periods
Location: 100% Remote
Short Summary about Job:
We are seeking a Senior Technical Editor to write, edit, and manage publishing teams to produce high-visibility technical communications. This role involves developing and communicating functional requirements for nuclear material accounting software (LANMAS), organizing acceptance testing, and providing expert support to Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration sites. The ideal candidate will research, analyze, and evaluate technical information, ensuring publications meet quality standards while managing critical deadlines. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely while supporting critical nuclear material accountability initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education: BS/BA in Technical Communications, English, Business or related discipline and 5-7 years related experience. OR AS and 8-10 years related experience OR 10+ years directly related experience. Education and/or experience in a technical field desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
• Active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development and communication of functional requirements for nuclear material accounting software that meets customer and user needs
• Organize, lead and communicate acceptance testing of nuclear material accounting software based on defined requirements
• Serve as an expert on nuclear material accounting software
• Support Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration sites in their implementation of nuclear material accounting software
• Provide helpdesk support for LANMAS software
• Write, edit, and manage task teams of publishing personnel to publish documents
• Design, create, write, edit, and publish materials related to activities to ensure publications support accurate organizational reputation and image
• Experience with Nuclear Material Control and Accountability at a DOE/NNSA site
• Nuclear material accounting experience at a DOE/NNSA site
Experience & Skills:
• Understanding of and ability to communicate technical information
• Excellent verbal and writing skills
• Experience with Local Area Nuclear Material Accounting Software (LANMAS)
• Knowledge of publications process/electronic publishing
• Technical expertise with mark-up techniques, layout design, templates, and desktop publishing computers/software
Travel Requirements: Travel may be required up to one week per month for:
• Travel for badging and to meet with core team and management
• Travel to other DOE Sites or locations to meet with NNSA or DOE to support software requirements, development, or testing of nuclear material accounting software
• Travel will be reimbursed per applicable compensation schedules. Travel must be fully approved by hiring manager 30 days prior to travel dates. Rates are fully burdened and should include all costs outside of business travel.
