Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

Duration: Will close to submissions on 12/10 at 5:00PM EST

Location: 80% onsite, 20% Remote

Short Summary about Job:
Keeps assigned applications operational by testing product upgrades, providing customer support and problem-solving customer issues. Plans for information systems and services from a perspective of application design, development, installation, or database administration. Provides tactical design, engineering, technical specifications, project coordination, and configuration management for moderately complex IT solutions. Assists more senior technical personnel in performing related activities in moderately complex tasks.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering) with 5 years proven performance in related assignments; or Non-related Bachelor degree with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Associate Degree in IT related discipline with 7 years proven performance in related assignment(s); or Non-related Associate Degree with 9 years proven performance in related assignment(s). In lieu of degree, a high school diploma with typically at least 11 years of equivalent knowledge and experience is acceptable.

Skills & Experience:
Knowledge of the academic as well as the practical aspects of Software Engineering is required. Ongoing technical development in Software Engineering is required.
Demonstrates an applied understanding of computer languages, software development fundamentals/methodology and database infrastructure.
Demonstrates programming skills that include analyzing information, software design, requirements, testing, documentation, problem solving, debugging and software development fundamentals/methodology.
Demonstrate proficiency and experience necessary to develop moderately complex software.
Demonstrates ability to utilize software engineering tools such as configuration management systems, change management, scanning, and debuggers in the software development process.
Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision to complete projects in a timely manner, make time for unplanned assignments and adapt to changing priorities.
Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard software engineering practices and applications.
Candidate must demonstrate 15 or more years' experience in software engineering related positions, including a minimum of 10 years' experience on DOE projects.
Candidate must demonstrate experience participating in systems engineering teams, with responsibilities including software engineering and program development to support systems engineering initiatives.
Candidate must be able to work independently and within a multi-discipline team.
Fluent with JavaScript, VB, C+, and/or Python

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
Experience developing Rational DOORS Requirements Management Extensions
Prior experience and working knowledge of DOE processes and procedures is preferred.

Miscellaneous/Additional Information:

Area Security Access: Clearance "Q" required. Subcontractor must have an active eFOCI registration and approved Facility Level Clearance with DOE/NNSA.
Travel: Required to travel to site once a quarter to meet in person with engineering team. Estimated funding for travel: $6,000.00/year.
Work Hours: A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Various work schedules available including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB). Work week excludes holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
