We have an exciting opportunity in our Aerospace Systems Engineering Directorate. This full-time position for a Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineering Manager will be located at our Huntsville, AL office in Cummings Research Park. This position will provide technical direction and personnel oversight for GNC efforts for weapon and space system projects.

This full-time position for a Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineering Manager will be located at our Huntsville, AL office in Cummings Research Park. This position will provide technical direction and personnel oversight for GNC efforts for weapon and space system projects.
DUTES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position typically reports to a technical manager and is responsible for the planning, managing and technical performance of one or more engineering unit(s). In this case, the GNC Engineering Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Aerospace Systems Engineering.
- Provides functional management oversight of a team of 5-10 GNC engineers with varying years of experience and areas of expertise.
- Manage GNC related activities for engineering project(s) including planning and managing technical performance to ensure quality, business, and financial objectives are attained.
- Provides technical direction to GNC engineers in the development of new GNC systems for both weapon systems and some space systems.
- Supports development of GNC system design, simulation model development, trade studies, performance analyses, ground and flight testing.
- May serve as GNC Lead for one or more projects simultaneously while performing GNC Engineering Manager duties.
- Develops and presents briefing materials at design reviews and customer meetings.
- Facilitates rapid resolution of delays that impact GNC tasks including real-time, thorough communication with task leads, program management and other leadership.
- Participates with technical staff, program managers and/or Division/Group executive management to develop and implement current, annual and long-term technical, schedule, quality, business and financial objectives for the unit(s).
- Supports concept development and new business development activities, including creation of proposals, technical white papers, basis of estimate, work breakdown structure, WBS dictionary, schedule, and other artifacts in response to government issued Requests for Proposals/Information.
- Ensure technical leadership and excellence is maintained by coordinating with Talent Acquisition and participating in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of the required engineering talent.
- Interfaces with Human Resources and ITS to support onboarding and out processing of GNC staff members, as required.
- Manage the development of and ensure the security of the unit's proprietary technology, and maintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
- Responsible for completing annual performance reviews and goal setting for GNC personnel.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Travel Expectations: 25-50%
- We operate on a 9x80 schedule with every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a Bachelors, Masters or PhD in engineering or a related technical field as well as eleven or more years of progressively complex engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
- Demonstrates technical expertise in the application of GNC engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project management and leadership skills including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
- Must possess the ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
- Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Able to work extended hours if required.
- Must possess an Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Customer focused, must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
- A Professional Engineering License, and original work(s) published in professional engineering journals are desirable.
