To qualify for a Transportation Assistant (Hazardous), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Demands: Work is generally of a sedentary nature. Work requires handling of material that may weigh up to 25 pounds. If moving or lifting items over 25 pounds, will request assistance or utilizing lifting devices. May be required to climb ladders and work on safety pallets. During periods of work in the warehouse, work may require some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching,
reaching, or similar activities.
Work Environment: Work is usually performed in an office setting, however, visits to warehouses, secure areas, or outdoor locations may be necessary to locate and count material. Work may be performed in hazardous areas where chemicals, poisons, and/or low levels of
radioactive material is stored; also, may be required to work in refrigerated areas with 42-45-degree temperatures and small freezers where the normal temperature is below 0. Employees are required to wear appropriate safety clothing and equipment as determined by safety requirements and the supervisor.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

Help
- Serves as an assistant performing freight shipment, transportation, and supply support functions for worldwide movements to aerial ports or the Continental United States (CONUS).
- Prepares and issues Material Release Order (MRO) paperwork, processes exception data requisitions, and handles emergency requisitions with accelerated delivery requirements.
- Initiates, releases, completes, verifies, and processes all documentation associated with the surface, air, and vessel shipment of hazardous freight.
- Provides enroute instructions with shipment size, shape, weight, and packing requirements, arranges urgent routings outside normal channels, and selects shipment mode.
- Obtains efficient transportation services at the lowest cost and recommends routing or mode changes for the most economical rates to meet delivery dates.
- Arranges and expedites material release orders for emergency shipments, researches and responds to customer inquiries related to the status of shipments, processes violations and cancelations, and researches open lines and late shipments.
