General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

This position performs and/or assists in fabricates, modifies, assembles, installs, operates, repairs and maintains, complex laboratory equipment, experimental and commercial apparatus. May assist in the design of complex equipment while providing input on design of basic equipment. Performs extremely complex tests and experiments. Records, evaluates, and reports data. Summarizes test data via written tabulation, charts, and graphs, and prepares informal reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Setup and conduct testing at the: material, sub-element, element, and sub-component level.
  • Willing to travel and perform Flight Load Instrumentation on Production Test Aircraft.
  • Assemble test fixturing as needed to characterize materials and hardware designs for aerospace applications.
  • Setup and operate test instrumentation including load cells, displacement sensors, strain gages, etc.
  • Assemble and integrate hardware to be tested.
  • Conduct testing per written test procedures and standards.
  • Perform tests of mechanical assemblies to insure compliance with product specifications.
  • Record test data for use in engineering test reports.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with seven or more years of experience.
  • May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Ability and willingness to work on systems which have unusual conditions such as high pressure, high voltage, high energy, or cryogens. Knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field required.
  • Must have analytical ability to read and understand detailed instructions, drawings and specifications.
  • Communication skills necessary to write and record precise information.
  • Special skills and expertise to use complex equipment or experimental techniques.
