We have an exciting opportunity for Shipwrights at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA for with one of our Clients in the Ship Repair Industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must hold active security clearance
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a shipyard Shipwright, Carpenter, Scaffolder, or related marine construction of U.S. Navy ships or submarines.
- Must have OSHA 10
Measure, cut, shape, and fit materials such as wood, composites, plastics, and metal framing components. - Build, install, modify, and dismantle staging, scaffolding, and temporary access structures on surface ships and submarines.
- Construct platforms, walkways, railings, ladders, and supports to meet shipyard and OSHA requirements.
- Perform inspections of staging systems to ensure structural stability and compliance.
- Install temporary enclosures, shrink-wrap containment systems, and protective barriers for environmental and safety control.
- Assist with hull access, block support, and temporary shoring as required by project teams.
- Perform layout work, scribing, framing, cutting, and fabrication for marine structures and containment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, staging layouts, and shipyard technical work documents.
- Strong working knowledge of carpentry tools (manual and power tools).
- Understanding of OSHA scaffolding standards and shipyard safety requirements.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, heights, tight compartments, and variable weather conditions.
- May work 8,10 or 12 hours shifts determined by the project.
