Program Overview

About The Role

Peraton is seeking a highly capable, proactive, experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to help build our database infrastructure.

Location: On-site, Washington, DC

In this position, you will:
  • Participate in the migration of legacy SQL data to new PostgreSQL databases
  • Apply expertise in PostgreSQL, performance tuning, and data migration
  • Work hands-on with AWS to manage and optimize environments
Beyond core DBA responsibilities, this role includes system administration tasks such as managing AWS environments, scripting, and supporting infrastructure operations. This hybrid role requires a strong understanding of both data and systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases.
  • Monitor performance, tune queries, and manage indexes/statistics.
  • Implement and manage backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
  • Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configuration.
  • Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in production and non-production environments.
  • Document procedures, configurations, and best practices.
  • Migrate legacy data from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree and minimum of 5 years' experience in the following:
    • Database Administration
    • Implementing data policies, procedures, standards
    • Planning and development of an organization's enterprise data model
    • Resolving data conflicts
    • Managing data repositories
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • Knowledge of EAV data model.

Details

Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
