Program Overview

About The Role

The Platform Engineer will provide technical expertise, configuration, and lifecycle support for the ServiceNow Enterprise Cloud Platform (ECP) in support of the FAA BNATCS contract. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, optimizing, and sustaining ServiceNow platform capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, workflow automation, service delivery, and compliance within FAA environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience delivering enterprise-grade ServiceNow solutions in regulated or federal environments, understands ITSM/ITOM/CMDB best practices, and excels at collaborating with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, and program teams.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Development
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain ServiceNow ECP modules, including ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, Workflow/Flow Designer, Service Catalog, Integrations, and other enterprise features as required.
  • Design and implement scalable, robust platform solutions aligned with FAA architecture and BNATCS technical requirements.
  • Develop custom applications, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and integrations following ServiceNow best practices and federal security standards.
  • Support ServiceNow upgrades, patching, cloning, and environment management.
Integration & Automation
  • Build and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and FAA enterprise systems (e.g., monitoring tools, identity services, cloud platforms, network systems, asset management).
  • Automate workflows, approvals, and operational processes to improve service delivery and reduce manual effort.
  • Assist with API-based automations using REST, SOAP, MID Server, and other integration technologies.
Platform Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with FAA security, data, and configuration management policies.
  • Support configuration governance through documentation, version control, and change management practices.
  • Contribute to platform roadmaps, architecture reviews, and modernization initiatives under BNATCS.
Operational Support
  • Troubleshoot platform/configuration issues and provide Tier 3 support to ServiceNow users and stakeholders.
  • Monitor platform performance and work with infrastructure teams to optimize system reliability and availability.
  • Provide training, guidance, and platform documentation for FAA and BNATCS engineering teams.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience with 5 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with hands-on ServiceNow development or platform engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise ServiceNow environments across multiple modules.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, ServiceNow scripting, workflows, data models, and integrations.
  • Experience with ITIL processes, ITSM/ITOM best practices, and CMDB modeling.
  • Ability to work in federal or regulated environments with strict security and compliance controls.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain FAA Public Trust or other required clearance.
  • While this is a remote capable role, candidates must live in the local DC/MD/NoVA area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • 3-7 years of hands-on ServiceNow development or platform engineering experience is preferred.
  • ServiceNow CIS certifications (ITSM, ITOM, Discovery, Scripting, or Application Development)
  • Experience supporting federal contracts or aviation/transportation programs.
  • Familiarity with FAA enterprise systems, BNATC technical environments, or NAS support operations.
  • Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Jenkins, Terraform), cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), or automation frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with government and contractor teams.

Details

Target Salary Range: $86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
