The SMX Space and Intelligence (S&I) Business Unit (BU) is on the ground floor across the future remote sensing ecosystem for all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO). We build, integrate, and operationally support our customers' emerging space-ground systems to include real-time data processing frameworks, sensor data processing, and data visualization. We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer who is excited to apply their talents to our customer's challenging project and one who will thrive in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a recognized professional with hands-on expertise and an excellent understanding of engineering processes supporting large, National Defense, Agile software development programs. With a team of system and software engineers in a fast-paced environment you will be an integral part of Space System Command's Tools, Application, and Processing lab infrastructure software. The program will maintain and mature the government-owned TAP framework and the external messaging services.
Position location is hybrid, on-site in Broomfield, CO, up to 5 days per week. Occasional travel to Boulder. Secret level clearance is required with ability to obtain Top Secret.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deploy features.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and efficient code in Python and/or C++.
- Develop in and deploy on Linux environments.
- Utilize Gitlab, Gitlab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts for deployments.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure optimal performance.
- Apply DoD standards and protocols to ensure compliance and security.
Required Skills & Experience
- Clearance Required: Secret with the ability to obtain Top Secret. Due to the clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required. Candidate must also participate in a background screen.
- BS or advanced degree in Computer Science/Engineering or another relevant field.
- 8+ years of professional experience in a software engineer position using Python, C++.
- Familiarity with Gitlab, Gitlab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and Helm Charts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong understanding of distributed computing practices, networking, messaging, etc.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Domain experience with remote sensing systems or ground architectures, especially experience with OPIR sensor processing.
- Familiarity with remote sensing algorithms, for instance image signal processing, detection, and tracking.
- Experience with hardware accelerated computing using GPUs, FPGAs, etc.
- Experience with Agile software development methodology.
